YNA x CARE Denmark

The climate crisis demands urgent, transformative action, yet the voices of youth and women, especially from marginalized communities, are too often left out of leadership discussions. In response, CARE Denmark and the Youth Negotiators Academy (YNA) joined forces through the Climate Youth Negotiator Programme (CYNP) to co-finance the participation of five youth and women leaders at COP30 in Belém, Brazil. Together, we're working to ensure that the future of climate policy is shaped by those most affected by its impacts. In 2025, the YNA celebrated having:

305 young people participated in trainings (182 for CYNP Fundamental training and 123 for CYNP Advanced training)
54 young people participated in the Alumni Network
151 young negotiators participated at COP30, 116 participants attended the in-person training (6–8 November 2025)
23 learning sessions and bilateral meetings with experts organised with special experts at COP30 in Belém, Brazil
196 Certificates awarded in total (alumni not included) = 64% (More than 2024)

As I reflect on my experience with the Land Youth Negotiators Program (LYNP) at COP 16, I am filled with a sense of pride, gratitude, and purpose. Being part of the LYNP team was a transformative experience that equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to navigate the complex world of negotiations.

Through LYNP's comprehensive training program, I learned how to effectively advocate for Land action, navigate the pressures of negotiations, and identify loopholes in the system. But what struck me most was the sense of community and solidarity that we built as young negotiators. For the first time, we had a voice, and we were determined to use it to make a difference.

The experience was not without its challenges, but with the guidance of our mentors, we learned how to manage our emotions, build our presence in the audience, and collaborate with other youths from diverse backgrounds. We formed bonds that went beyond our roles as negotiators, and we became each other's backbone, supporting and encouraging each other every step of the way.

One of the most significant takeaways from my experience with LYNP was the realization that, as youths, we are not alone in this fight. We are part of a global community that is committed to creating a more sustainable future. And with that knowledge comes a sense of responsibility, a sense of purpose, and a sense of determination to make a difference.

As I look back on my journey with LYNP, I am filled with gratitude for the friendships, connections, and knowledge that I gained. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of a community that is shaping the future of our planet. And I am grateful for the experience that has equipped me with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to continue advocating for environmental action.

"Thanks to the Youth Negotiators Academy Program and to the support of CARE Denmark, I spent five intense months in the fundamentals Cohort learning about UNFCCC negotiation processes and the role of youth in negotiations, as well as interacting with other youths from around the world, discussing COP 30 negotiations. The final in-person training was the last piece I needed; it left me empowered, informed, and ready to step confidently into the negotiation rooms of COP30. We were guided on how to navigate the UNFCCC portal to access COP agendas, reports, and negotiation texts, and we even carried out realistic negotiation simulations that brought the entire process to life."
